LGA latest new and announcements

On May 4th, 2024, the Lake Gaston Association (LGA) will offer free document shredding for Lake Gaston area residents and businesses. The annual Jack D Saunders Community Paper Shred Event will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Roanoke Wildwood Volunteer Fire Station on 790 Lizard Creek Rd, Littleton, NC.

The picture above shows the traffic flow for the Shredding Event. Please enter at the entrance near the bingo hall and exit on Quail Ridge Road.  The traffic flow is one-way and no parking spaces are available.  This traffic pattern allows us to quickly unload your vehicle and check the contents before sending them to the shredder.

Our vendor, Shred-It, Inc. sends a mobile shredding truck from Raleigh, NC. This truck is equipped with a high-efficiency industrial shredder, enabling it to handle a large volume at a much higher rate than a traditional office shredder. Much like garbage trucks, shredding trucks are also designed to securely hold compacted shredded material and transport it to their shredding facility or recycling center.

Your documents will be checked by LGA volunteers to ensure that no binders or binder clips are placed in the shredding bin. Once filled, the bin is rolled to the truck and the contents are emptied into the shredder. We will accept documents with standard paper clips and staples (which do not need to be removed). We cannot accept cardboard boxes, which will be returned to the homeowner, for recycling by them. Below is a reference guide for what can be accepted.

This event is free to all Lake Gaston area residents. You do not have to be an LGA member to use this service. As always, we will accept donations, which are not required. Please do not plan to arrive early to drop off your papers and leave. We will not accept any documents until the shred truck is onsite. Please avail yourself to this free annual shredding event, as the next opportunity will occur the first Saturday in May, 2025.
