LGA latest new and announcements

The Lake Gaston Association (LGA) held the annual Jack Saunders Community Shred Event on Saturday, May 4, 2024. This event provides an opportunity for lake residents to bring documents for commercial shredding at no cost to them. This year, the shred event surpassed the previous record of 93 vehicles with volunteers servicing a total of 117.

Volunteers unloaded boxes and bags of documents from the vehicles and placed them in a shredding bin, where the truck loaded them into the document shredder. This year we filled the shredding truck to capacity by the time the event ended at 1:00 p.m. We thank all the LGA volunteers in making this another successful event.

Next year’s event will once again be held on the first Saturday in May.

POWER IN NUMBERS! If at all possible, attend the upcoming County Commissioners meeting on May 6th at 6PM at the Armory, 501 US Hwy 158 Business East, Warrenton, NC 27589.

The LGA along with the Water Safety Council and the 911 Task Force has contacted the Warren County Commissioners and stated our opposition to the County changing its contractual position with the Volunteer Fire Departments.

A copy of our letter is attached here:

We encourage all Warren County property owners/taxpayers to contact the Warren County Commissioners and state their opposition to this proposal.

You can contact your Warren County Commissioners here: Staff Directory • County Commissioners (warrencountync.com)

Lake Gaston Association Business Members should be on the lookout in the coming weeks for new window decals being delivered either in person by an LGA Board member, or by mail.

Gus's Diner's Assistant Manager Morris and Tina, one of their fantastic servers, proudly display our new LGA Business Member decal.   Gus's Diner is one of our newest members and is located in the Food Lion shopping center.   LGA Marketing & Membership Chairman Brian Goldsworthy can attest that "the food is fantastic!"

We thank all of our business members who realize without the lake, most of us probably wouldn’t be here.

Are you bothered by the trash you see on the roadside around Lake Gaston?  Would you like to be part of the solution?  The LGA’s Lake Cleanup Committee has two new programs to help.  The LGA recently made five trash pickup kits available on-site at the Lake Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce to be checked out by the public. Each kit has four sets of gloves, four high-visibility vests, four “grabbers,” and trash bags in a reusable shopping bag. After you have finished using the kit, you return everything (aside from the trash) to the Lake Gaston Chamber of Commerce. The Lake Gaston Chamber has also offered an option for more ambitious groups -- they have large barrels that are available for trash collection, so get your group together and help clean up our community.  You could even start a friendly competition between your HOA, church group, club, business, etc., and other groups around the Lake.  Make sure to take “before” and “after” pictures of the area you cleaned up, as well as a picture of all the hard workers, and send them to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  You might get to see your pictures featured on our website or in one of our bulletins!

Another program we are working on is identifying existing community clean-up events so we can share the information with the LGA membership and offer up our volunteers to help with the event. So if you are aware of any clean-up events that are scheduled around Lake Gaston, please forward the information to the Lake Cleanup Chairperson, Shannon McAllister, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and she will get that information out to our members. Make sure that you are following the LGA’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/LGA.nc.va)  for updates on opportunities to come!

The LGA is pleased to announce that the April 3, 2024, Membership Meeting with Jessica Baumann from NC State was recorded and is available for viewing on the LGA YouTube Channel by clicking on the link below. This is a new feature for members of the LGA and the Lake Gaston community who are not able to attend our monthly meetings. This is our first effort and realize that the audio might be a little difficult for some to hear, but turning up the volume on your device should help. We welcome your feedback on this new feature and hope you find value in the effort!
